Gabriela (70) is deadly ill and can hardly breathe. After ordering a new lung she sets out for a difficult and unpredictable journey accompanied by three outlawed bounty hunters. Whilst being on the manhunt she gets absorbed by the raw and dystopian world that happens to be more brutal and ruthless than she would have ever allowed herself to think about. In a small people’s village she gets confronted with the consequences of her attempt to stay alive. A small man gets killed and a small girl, Abelina (6), refuses to give up on her mother, Eva (35), who is considered the head hunters prey and should function as an organ donor. With Eva in a cage they arrive at a decayed hospital. Gabriela’s pinched and anxious breath predicts her nearing death while the formalities at the hospital seem to mark the end of her journey. Abelina, who hid in the bounty hunter’s trunk, manages to free the captive little people in the hospital, including Eva. Gabriela witnesses the escape, she follows Eva and Abelina and tries to convince them to come back to the hospital.

Anderson Losada was 8 years old when he lost his leg to a landmine in Colombia. As a refugee, he was resettled in a small Canadian ski town which opened his eyes to the world of para-alpine skiing. He was on the brink of national competition, when citizenship complications restricted his athletic potential and withheld the sense of belonging he desires. Following Anderson’s Colombian past and his journey to citizenship in rural Canada, this short documentary explores the citizenship barriers he and other refugee minors face. When Anderson’s struggles caught the attention of a Canadian Senator, his story impacted an amendment that recently changed Canada’s Citizenship Act, to aid refugee minors.
